AI Policy
Our AI Commitments
Team4Tech is an impact accelerator working to improve the quality of education for learners in under-resourced communities. As AI becomes part of how nonprofits and companies work, we’re committed to using it responsibly—in ways that strengthen our mission rather than compromise it.
Our approach to AI is grounded in the same values that guide everything else we do.
Our Values, Applied to AI
Inclusive: We believe everyone has the opportunity to be a learner and a teacher. We work to ensure AI tools and their outputs serve our NGO partners and their learners fairly, not just efficiently.
Intentional: We adopt AI tools because they help us create positive impact with our partners and not because they’re trending. Every tool we use should meaningfully advance our mission and should pass our internal AI tool evaluation standards.
Empathetic: AI carries real limitations and ethical implications, especially for the communities we serve. We build that awareness into our decisions, and we help our NGO partners do the same.
Responsible: We strive to be a reliable long-term partner, and that means keeping our commitments around AI just as seriously as any other. Regardless of how AI is being used, a person is always accountable for the final result. AI should support our decision-making, not replace it.
Agile: AI is changing quickly, and so is our understanding of it. We will continue to revisit this policy, our practices, and our commitments as we learn.
Data Privacy and Protection
Protecting our staff, NGO partners, donors, and the learners at the center of our mission is core to how we operate. We do not share personal or sensitive information—names, contact information, financial information, and anything covered by a confidentiality agreement—with AI tools. When we use data for AI-assisted analysis, we anonymize it first.
Where we have the choice, we favor AI tools that allow us to opt out of having our information used to train their models and give our organization more control over how our data is handled. Every AI-assisted output must be reviewed by a person on our team before it’s used or shared.
Fairness and Bias
We want AI to serve the communities we’re privileged to work alongside, not disadvantage them. This means watching for bias in the tools we use, and never treating AI output as neutral. We know these tools reflect the data they learn from, and that data isn’t unbiased.
It also means staying authentic and honest in how we tell our story. We don’t use AI-generated images or video in place of real photos and footage of our program participants, NGO partners, volunteers, and staff.
Building AI Capacity with Our NGO Partners
AI capacity-building is now part of how we support NGO partners in scaling their impact. We hold ourselves to the same philosophy that we encourage across our partnerships: responsible, contextually grounded AI use that strengthens teaching, learning, and organizational effectiveness while keeping people at the center of every decision.
Accountability
Internally, a cross-functional AI Task Force helps ensure these commitments hold up in practice, not just on paper. If something about an AI tool doesn’t quite feel right or meet our standards, our team is encouraged to raise their concerns, and we want to hear about it early.
AI and the norms around it continue to evolve, and so will this policy. We will continue to revisit it as we grow and learn.
