In September, Team4Tech held its inaugural Innovate for Impact event, a design-thinking workshop bringing together volunteers from multiple corporate partners to support our NGO partner Africa ICT-Right.
An Organization Preparing Ghana’s Learners for the Future
Africa ICT-Right (AIR) is a nonprofit organization based in Ghana that works to empower marginalized groups such as women, people with disabilities, and children by introducing digital opportunities. Through their programming, such as iTeach ICT, Africa ICT-Right is equipping STEM teachers with relevant skills and content to integrate ICT into their teaching and learning.
Volunteers Innovate for Impact Across Geographies, Job Functions, and Companies
During our 3-hour virtual event, volunteers representing five different companies utilized the design-thinking process to ideate and prototype potential solutions to the following design challenge question: “How might Africa ICT-Right better tell their story in order to reach different audiences (funders, beneficiaries, etc.)?”
Participants had the opportunity to learn more about Africa ICT-Right’s work, ask questions to dig deeper into the design question, and dedicate time working in small teams to brainstorm ideas and rapidly prototype solutions. Led by a Team4Tech Program Director, this fast-paced, condensed workshop format is intentionally designed to move quickly to encourage creativity and innovation.
The workshop was a great experience. I was very impressed at how well we did in time management and kudos to Mehreen [[Mehreen Butt, Team4Tech Program Director]] for keeping us all within time allotted. I also liked that the ideation framework was ready for us to use and that each task was very well-defined. The slides with the guides really helped us focus our team discussion.”

Volunteers Deliver Actionable Recommendations With Just a Few Hours of Engaged Participation
By the end of the workshop, participants flexed their leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. Volunteers prioritized ideas in their small groups, built out succinct presentations in a short time, and delivered their recommendations to Africa ICT-Right and the other volunteer teams.
Volunteers presented solutions including:
- a social media strategy roadmap
- social media and web content recommendations
- learner testimonial projects
- enhanced data access to inform future organizational strategies
Team4Tech is proud to facilitate connections between volunteers and education-focused NGOs like Africa ICT-Right, improving education that ultimately prepares learners for better jobs. This is just one example of Team4Tech’s global contributions to education. Our organization continues to accelerate the impact of nonprofit organizations globally.
This coming April, your team can collaborate with an educational nonprofit to design tech-driven solutions to help them make a bigger impact in our second Innovate for Impact event. Learn more about how your team can participate in National Volunteer Week with Team4Tech.
