DigitalNEST Helps Bridge the Digital Divide
Team4Tech and DigitalNEST are partnering to develop technical skills in rural communities and create sustainable and scalable technology centers all over California. Historically, the rural, agricultural-based cities of Watsonville and Salinas did not benefit from the economic opportunity and digital innovation that tech brought to other California communities. As a result, they lack adequate access to technology. This greatly impacts their opportunities, connections, and ability to prosper in the workforce.
The Importance of Supporting Skill Building
DigitalNEST sparks a nationwide dialogue among educators, policy-makers, and the media. They embody a model for conquering the digital divide of technical skills in rural communities throughout the U.S. DigitalNEST connects youth to a skill-building community that transforms them into professionals who can create successful and innovative careers. Overall, by creating economic opportunity for the residents of low-income communities, young people learn the technical skills needed to become competitive and self-sufficient in the digital future.
Team4Tech’s Impact on Technical Skills in Rural Communities
DigitalNEST wants to scale to meet the needs of more students across California. As they open new sites, they need to ensure their systems can support the continuing expansion by developing some consistency coupled with local flexibility. Consequently, Team4Tech wants to support DigitalNEST in preparing for this expansion through tools that better use their data and support their students.
Potential Partnership Projects
The impact of Team4Tech and DigitalNEST’s partnership could yield several project types, such as:
- Selecting and implementing a Student Information System
- Creating or acquiring a hosted business intelligence tool that can be used to generate reports (for all purposes: student, staff, donor, etc.)
