Women Empowerment in Vietnam: 2020 Project with Kidspire Vietnam

Kidspire Vietnam Enables Skill-building for Orphaned Children

In Vietnam, there are over 2 million orphans who are struggling with poverty, violence and prejudice and even sex trafficking. Many spend most of their childhood years in government facilities and drop out of school. Few of these children graduate with basic computing skills, greatly limiting their employment options, and less than 1% go on to attend university. Opportunities are scarce for orphans to access women empowerment in Vietnam, in particular.

Kidspire Vietnam‘s mission is to empower children living in orphanages to take control of their own futures. Moreover, Kidspire Vietnam’s innovative program features a student-centered learning environment and a curriculum focused on social-emotional learning, creativity, critical thinking, and innovative problem-solving. Their program has drastically increased children’s engagement in learning and career readiness.

Cadence Volunteers Mentor and Build Technological Capacity

Kidspire Vietnam leveraged a team of Team4Tech volunteers from Cadence Design Systems to:

  • Mentor teams of girls through Technovation Challenge – an opportunity for girls from all over the world to learn and apply the skills needed to solve real-world problems through technology and entrepreneurship
    • One team even made it to the semi-finals: Congratulations, Borrow Books! We are so proud of your hard work, diligence, and creativity!!
  • Advance Kidspire’s capacity in using Salesforce by supporting the build of a student and donor dashboard

Overall, 500+ children in nine government-run orphanages across the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam benefit from the scope of Kidspire’s work.
