Advancing Global AI Readiness in Education: Free Training and Certification for Educators

Team4Tech has been a grateful partner of the AI-for-Education.org initiative over the past 18 months. The initiative, founded by Fab, Inc., was launched with a clear vision: to ensure that the benefits of AI in education are not limited to high-income countries.

As Fab, Inc. has articulated, they truly believe every child, everywhere (regardless of geography or circumstance) should have the opportunity to benefit from AI-powered learning.

The initiative is focused on three big objectives:

  • Create evidence-based, technically sound resources
  • Make AI tools more affordable and effective over time
  • Support scalable improvements in teaching and learning

The team at Fab, Inc. is building what they refer to as the “backbone” platform (an open-source infrastructure) to house:

  • Knowledge products
  • Curated AI tools
  • Curated evidence libraries
  • Open datasets
  • Benchmarks and evaluation tools

The initiative has also invested in community and capacity building. Team4Tech is proud to provide the initiative with training support for educators and leaders. Cumulatively, AI-for-education.org’s efforts will help co-create smarter, more contextual uses of AI.

Team4Tech is designing and facilitating trainings, resulting in a series of learning objects that support organizations, ministries of education, educators, and leaders in experimentation towards implementation. This foundational training set provides training focused on (among other topics) the following:

  • Creating learning materials with AI
  • Bias, ethics, and privacy for AI in educational settings
  • Leveraging AI for educational communications and outreach
  • Preparing educators and leaders for digital citizenship that is inclusive of AI
  • Enhancing accessibility with AI
  • Understanding quality benchmarks for AI and education

The AI-for-education.org-sponsored resource library includes PDF downloads that are accessible and available at no cost. To date, these resources include glossaries, frameworks, tipsheets, guides, explainer text, sample prompts, examples of AI-powered off-line applications, and more.

Last week, the first trainings were released in Team4Tech’s Community of Practice, and we are thrilled to share that openly accessible space with our larger Ai-for-education.org community. In this space, you can access individual training materials (videos, decks, PDFs, etc.) and earn a certificate of completion for these bite-sized trainings to help demonstrate your commitment to improving your knowledge base on AI in education.

Each of the trainings produced for the initiative are aligned to and support the development of UNESCO’s AI competencies for teachers.

We are thrilled about the opportunity these trainings and the greater initiative are creating for our stakeholders. As this global initiative grows, so does our commitment to building equitable access to AI literacy and fluency for all educators, regardless of location or infrastructure.
