Youth Lacking Digital Skills
Many people in Nigeria find it difficult to access the internet, and even in places where these networks exist, internet access is still inefficient and costly. Many also lack the resources to own smartphones or computers to access these services.
The Northern Nigeria technology ecosystem is still at its early stage; it has enormous untapped potential. The region dominates youth, with about 35% under 25 years. It has vast human capital that can be empowered to create jobs, tap into the startup industry and contribute to national growth.
Building a Sustainable Digital Community
Blue Sapphire Hub Foundation (BSHF) aims to develop human capital with skill sets to create a robust community of innovators and sustainable solution providers that will drive the African technology ecosystem. Their Girls in Tech Sisterhood program encourages young girls from high school to gain hands-on skills in cybersecurity, robotics, networking, and programming to empower them to enter the STEM field.
Blue Sapphire Hub Collaborates with Team4Tech to Equip Young Innovators
In partnership with Team4Tech, Blue Sapphire will improve solar capacity to provide adequate power supply, internet connectivity, and learning materials so young innovators can gain advanced technology skills. The partnership will also provide Blue Sapphire staff and learners with access to a community of mentors and supporters.
