Goal: Advance media design skills with CCF in Cambodia.
Background: At the Steung Meanchey garbage dump in Cambodia, hundreds of children use to scavenge through garbage or beg on the streets to survive. The garbage dump was closed in 2009 but this community continues to live in extreme poverty.
Partner: Since 2004, the Cambodian Children’s Fund (CCF) has provided support through education, leadership, community outreach, healthcare, childcare, and vocational training for around 2,000 children and their families. The education program of CCF – the Neeson Cripps Academy – provides a pathway out of the hardship, ensuring that students graduate with a strong sense of social justice and a commitment to making a better future not just for themselves, but for their community and country. CCF staff are skilled and professional teachers and are looking to lead the way in STEAM education.
Project: Building upon Team4Tech’s first project with CCF in 2019, a second T4T team of Adobe employees has virtually supported CCF throughout the summer of 2020. The team was paired with CCF staff and teachers to advance their skills in InDesign, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop – some staff members have the goal to complete trainer certifications in Adobe CC within the next year. They would be the first in Cambodia to do so! Through this mentorship, CCF teachers have created Khmer materials to train other staff members, students, and the surrounding Cambodian community.
